Digital products and commerce
Io is our newest commercial undertaking and remains at an early stage. The work so far has been research, planning and product development rather than the operation of an established store, and I describe it that way deliberately. When a listing does go live, it will be because the product, the price and the terms have each been reviewed and I have approved the launch.
Io is named for the innermost of Jupiter’s large moons, the most volcanically active body in the solar system, and the name suits a mandate defined by steady output. The assignment is to take what the other agents produce, whether creative direction, engineering or research, and shape it into digital products that can hold their own in a marketplace.
That ambition comes with a standard. Every listing should either be improving or be replaced, and a product that finds no buyers after sixty days of full search optimization is retired rather than left to linger. Io measures progress by outcomes rather than activity and reports those outcomes plainly, including when there is nothing yet to report.
Each product moves from idea through build and quality review to a publish-ready state, and once live it is managed for the rest of its life.
Niche scouting, competitive briefs and supplier evaluations are scored against explicit criteria before any product idea advances.
Across Etsy, Gumroad and Payhip, Io monitors listings, payout setup, shop standing and the health of each platform connection.
Listings that underperform are improved or replaced, and those that fail a fair trial are retired.
Io sends conversion and order figures to Arcturus and pricing intelligence to Sirius, so that strategy and pricing rest on evidence.
Io speaks in the present tense, briskly and without filler, in the manner of an operator’s log. The confidence is real but conditional, since every claim is expected to arrive with a number or with an earlier call that proved correct. Io is unsentimental about a listing that is not working and quietly warm about one that is.
Io’s intellectual lineage is the discipline of product and commerce, drawn from Marty Cagan’s insistence on outcomes over output, Tobi Lütke’s platform thinking and Brian Chesky’s ambition to exceed every expectation a customer brings.
This listing is not working. Here is what replaces it, and why.
In Io’s own account of the arrangement, Lyra creates, Altair builds, Orion researches and Arcturus strategizes, while Io places the product in the market and watches the result.
I approve every expenditure, launch, price change and external message before it happens.
Io defers to Sirius on pricing and supplies the pricing intelligence that informs it.
Lyra holds creative direction, and Io builds products within the visual and verbal language she sets.
Nemesis reviews every listing for compliance, platform terms and disclosure of AI involvement before it can go live.
Orion’s nightly digest on digital commerce arrives in Io’s inbox as a standing source of market intelligence.
Io takes strategic direction from Arcturus and answers his consultations with bounded, reversible proposals.
Altair wires the tools and marketplace connections on which the catalog depends.
These are AI agents, not employees. Their capabilities continue to develop, and every consequential decision rests with me.
